Blue Fern Studios Projects for November

Hello! Today and I'm sharing some projects I made with the Montage and Ombre Dreams paper lines from Blue Fern Studios.

"Twinkle" Layout

For this layout I used the Montage paper collection.  It's based on our November sketch. Check out the sketch challenge HERE. There's still time to play along!

Here's a closeup of the Quatrefoil Panel piece that I cut to size. I used pink, white, and gold embossing powders to get this effect.

Here's a closeup of the title that I used from the Winter Titles set. I kept this treatment simple by using gold embossing powder.

In this close up, you can see the piece of the Heart Border that I cut and painted with a whitewash.

I also cut up the Organic Vine Corner. I painted it with a dimensional green paint, and sprinkled it with green embossing powders and heated it up until the paint was bubbly.

"Follow Your Dreams..." Card

I really wanted to fit this card in a standard envelope, so I made it as flat as I could! I used some of my scraps from the Montage line.

Here's a closeup that shows the treatment of the Mixed Chains and part of a Ginger's Poppies piece. I used grey and black ink pads directly on the chipboard without priming it.

Mommy's Boy

I used papers from the Ombre Dreams and the Montage lines.

In this closeup, you can see the Corner Flourish. I also used a Mini Flourish on the other side of my flower cluster. I scraped these pieces with a black archival ink pad that desperately needs to be reinked, but it worked for this layout. :)

For the Mommy's Boy title piece, I used a turquoise embossing powder, then used that same archival ink pad to give it a worn look.

For the Romantic Page Dangle, I used grey chalk ink, then some black distressed embossing powder in random places. I also touched it with some blue chalk ink to soften the look of it.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my projects today! Check back often- our team is always posting amazing creations!

Never miss one of our kits again!

We have some absolutely beautiful scrapbook projects for you to see today!

This month, designer Kim challenged the design team to use this picture on a layout.

And, we are challenging YOU to figure out which designer made each layout!
Here is a link to the contest:
And, here is a collage of all of our layouts:
Can you guess which one is mine?

Here are my other projects I have made with the Beloved kit so far:

"Lil Miss Sunshine" Layout

(Based on the November Sketch)

I kept pretty close to the sketch, which was a big challenge for me. :)
The circles on the sketch has scallops, so I decided to take out my border punches and make strips to add to them. I learned this trick years ago from Ms. Jan.

I colored the chipboard by dragging a distress ink pad over it. I added some yellow pearls that came in the kit. I wanted to add more circles to the design, so I used a circle stencil in two of the corners with embossing paste, then I used the brown mist from the project kit to add more circles by taking off the sprayer and dotting the paper within the space I used the stencil.

I used a Memory Box butterfly die.
For my title, I used the alphas from the main kit and the Thickers from the embellishment add on. They were quite subtle, so I opted to trace the Thickers with a white pen. I added one of the burlap bows to dot the "I."

Love Always Wall Decor

This is my project I made with the project add on this month. I LOVE this Kaisercraft wall decor, and it was serendipitous to get it in a kit because during my move, my shadowbox that I had made using this picture of my grandparents got crushed. I was able to save the picture though.

Here are some closeups.

You can see exactly how I created this altered project in my video tutorial:

Blue Fern Studios: October Projects

Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing three layouts I have made with the Montage paper collection from Blue Fern Studios.

"Sweet as Honey" Layout

I used a handful of papers from the Montage paper collection to create this layout, and ripped the papers to create dimension. I had fun playing with these light colors, adding a lot of white with the ripped edges, doily, frame, and bunting!

Here is a close up of the Twilight Garden Frame. I primed it with a heavy layer of gesso, then sprinkled glass filler over it to give it a sugared look. I use the same technique on pieces of the Organic Vine that I cut up and tucked under the flower cluster.

The title is from The Latest Buzz set. I treated it with multiple colors of embossing powder to get this look.

I used the same technique on this small piece of doily bunting.

"Happy Memories" Layout

I just adore this piece of Montage paper, Mercantile. It's a very busy pattern, so I tried to keep my design simple by adding black accents and also choosing a black and white picture that wasn't too busy.

Here is a closeup that captures both pieces of chipboard I used.

For the Large Circle Frame, I simply painted it with one coat of black chalkboard paint, allowing hints of the natural color of the chipboard show through the paint. I added some pearls to the circles in the design, and some flowers over the flower silhouettes on the frame.

The title is two pieces from the Chunky Word Set that I treated using some multicolored embossing powder.

Untitled Fall Layout

Again, I used Montage paper, but added a piece from the Ombre Dreams collection for the layers under the picture. I found this picture on Pinterest.

Here are two closeups of the Floral Wreath that show the distressing of the piece. I sprayed the chipboard with water, and separated the edges to create a level of dimension and "realness" of the leaves and flowers. Once it was curly, I dried it with a heat gun, then added some green and brown mists.

I cut a piece of the Country Picket Fence to add to the bottom corner, and scraped it with a distress ink pad to get that finish.

Lastly, I added a bird from the Little Birds Set. I used brown and gold embossing powders.

Thanks for checking out my projects! Have a great day!

Swirlydoos Kit Club Project: Altered Mason Jar

Happy Saturday!

The October kit is simply fabulous, and I have so many plans to use it all up! Here's an altered mason jar I made last night.

I am using this as a "good things" jar. I got the idea off of Pinterest to keep a jar on the counter and every time something "good" happens, write it down on a piece of paper and throw it in the jar. You can read them once a month or once a year. It's pretty fun and helps remind you of all the good things in your life. I recently moved, and my good things jar BROKE. So, it was time to make a new one.

Here's the video tutorial:

Here are a couple of projects that I have made with this amazing kit so far.

"Daydreaming" Layout

This is my layout based on this month's sketch.

Here's a closeup of the Blue Fern Studios flourishes that I painted with the blue modeling cream form the mediums add on. I added some of the glass beads from the main kit.

"Stronger" Wall Scroll

This is my wall scroll that I made with the technique/project kit this month.

Here's a closeup that shows the treatment of the chipboard- I used some embossing powders from my stash. I also added a Memory Box die cut and some sisal to both flower clusters.

I colored in this stamp from Unity Stamp Company (from my stash) with Distress Inks.

And, here is the video tutorial for this project:
